Paisley received his BA from Stanford University (Department of Philosophy) and was awarded his Ph.D. by Johns Hopkins University. He has supervised and helped students gain admission to prestigious universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Columbia, and NYU. He has extensive work experience in the university sphere having served as Full Professor at McGill University, Guest Professor in the Department of Humanities at Siegen University, Germany, Associate Professor at The University of Copenhagen, and Chair Professor of Philosophy and Academic Dean at Lingnan University. Before moving permanently to Hong Kong, Paisley was an invited Research Fellow at Kyoto University. Over the span of his career he has supported, taught, and tutored hundreds of students across multiple institutions and countries. He has written a total of 9 books, all published by top-tier presses (Oxford University Press, Routledge, Oxford Clarendron Press, Cambridge University Press, The Johns Hopkins University Press,) Cambridge University Press, Cornell University Press, and Cornell University Press). An experienced professor and consultant, Paisley is fluent in five languages and has written and co-written over 100 articles for the most reputable and highest ranked journals.
Michael Lawson received his Master’s degree (Top in the year, 1st class honours, 2013) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bristol and later received a PhD (2019) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London. Michael started teaching students as part of his PhD degree, and has continued to tutor and advise students on the admissions process for several years.Michael is experienced with tutoring students for the UKiset and ISEB preselection tests. After experiencing the education sector from top to bottom, as well as teaching students from age 6 to 22, Michael has a wealth of exposure in the right methods to help students thrive, whether they are a student who is feeling left behind from not covering a subject enough in class, or an ambitious student who wishes to get ahead of their peers. Ms. Daisy Chow is a Clinical Psychologist. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She worked in the Mood Disorders Centre at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Spastic Association of Hong Kong.
In 2010, she founded Cheers Psychological Consultancy Services which aims to provide quality psychological services to children, adolescents and adults. Ms. Daisy Chow is known as one of the most popular psychologists in Hong Kong as she is often interviewed by various media, including TVB, Viu TV, Cable TV, RTHK, Apple Daily, Oriental Daily, etc.
She has conducted more than 100 talks in various institutions , including, CUHK, HKU, HKUST, Caritas HK, Precious Hospital, etc. Recently she has been invited by the Educational Bureau and the EduHK to teach school principals and teachers about handling mental health problems.
Her expertise include diagnosing and treating autism, ADHD and mood disorder patients. She has a rich experience in providing psychological assessments. As a clinician and a mother of two children, she has particularly strong parenting skills.

Juliana received her B.A. in Journalism from the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil, in 2004.In 2007, after being awarded with a scholarship from the European Union Programme AlBan Juliana pursued an MA from City University of London, starting her research on environmental journalism. Born and raised in a developing country with difficulties to protect its environment, environmental journalism has been particularly inspiring to Juliana and motivated her MA dissertation “The challenges of scientific and environmental journalism: The second-generation biofuels”. In 2009, she graduated with Distinction from the School of Journalism, Masters in International Journalism, and, in 2010, her dissertation was released by the German publishing house LAP LAMBERT Academic Publishing. She was granted with an MPhil in Media Studies from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, in 2017. Her MPhil research also focused on Environmental Journalism, discussing about the media coverage on wind power in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, the main producer of this type of energy in Brazil.In 2018, as she was awarded with the University of Warwick Chancellor’s International Scholarship, she moved to Coventry in order to continue her studies on environmental journalism at the University of Warwick.She is currently a second year PhD researcher on Media and Communication, at the Centre of Cultural and Media Policy Studies, University of Warwick.Her research seeks about the Brazilian media coverage on sustainable development and the points of view it has taken into account in their discussions. In 1992 and 2012, Brazil hosted two UN conferences to discuss environmental sustainability, amplifying the debate on these matters, especially in Brazil, a country that holds a large biodiversity and several natural resources. This research is extremely relevant to the contemporary world as environmental concerns –emission of greenhouse gases, global warming, climate change etc. –are increasingly prominent worldwide.Thus, this research focuses on the Brazilian environmental coverage and its evolution within the timeframe of the United Nations conferences held in Brazil.During her academic and professional career, she has also obtained other relevant achievements. In 2015, after been awarded with a scholarship from the University of Exeter, she participated in the course Global Climate Change: Environment, Technology and Society, during the university’s International Summer School. In 2016, she was selected by the ThomsonReutersFoundation to the Journalism Training Programme, named Uncovering Security: EmergingThreats.With 20 years of experience as a professional journalist, she has worked in several media companies, such as Globo Network, in Brazil, as well as BBC World Service and CNN International, in the United Kingdom.

Agnes Fung is an university admissions consultant and academic tutor. Agnes attended Diocesan Girls’ School and Harrow International School Hong Kong, achieving all 10A*s at GCSE and 4A* at GCE A level. Having graduated top of her year, she went on to obtain the title of Hong Kong Scholar, a prestigious scholarship awarded by the Hong Kong Government, to study at the University of Cambridge. Agnes has recently completed her studies, achieving aMasters degree in Manufacturing Engineering. Outside of her studies, Agnes strived to be well rounded: she competed for two university sport teams, conducted an A capella group, and built a website as part of her role as publicity officer for the Hong Kong Scholars Association.

Qian Poppy Zhai is a PhD candidate in Film Studies at University College London. She obtained her MA degree in Film Studies at UCL in 2016. She is particularly interested in Scandinavian cinema, transnational cinema and cultural identity. Her PhD project focuses on the circulation, exhibition and criticism of New Danish Cinema in China since the 1990s, examining the South-North cross-cultural dynamics between a small nation and a big country under globalisation. She is currently co-authoring a book chapter for A History of Danish Cinema due out with Edinburgh University Press in 2021.As well as presenting her papers at a variety of international conferences, she co-organised a successful and well-attended symposium on Chinese film co-production and policy in London in 2019. Besides, she has been working as a Postgraduate Teaching Assistant in MA Film Studies at UCL, and her tasks include leading MA dissertation workshops, teaching MA reading groups and marking essays.

Serenity Wang is a PhD candidate at UCL, in the History department. Having lived in the UK since 2009 when she was 14 years old, Serenity transferred to Downe House School where she did her A-Levels and had an unforgettable experience of a girls’ boarding school. She pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Warwick, with a First Class BA degree in Film Studies. Then she graduated from UCL in 2017 with a Distinction in MA Film Studies before starting her PhD programme.
Serenity is a keen and enthusiastic tutor and consultant who is well equipped to support students in essay writing, interview preparation, and CV building. At UCL, she has been giving lectures to MA students and supervising students’ essays in the History department. She is also a teaching assistant in the Film Studies department, leading MA seminars and tutorials. Shiyi Jiang is currently a PhD candidate in Film Studies at University College London (UCL) in the United Kingdom. She received an MA in Film Studies with Distinction in 2016 from UCL where she is pursuing an academic career path in the Humanities. She studied at the University of Toronto where she received a BA with Honours in Cinema Studies and Book & Media Studies. She participated in several exchange programs for the purpose of getting to know and understand other cultures. She spent a summer studying Korean cinema at Korea University in South Korea in 2013. She also participated in the UCL-Yale exchange program and was a visiting research assistant in Film and Media Studies at Yale in the spring term 2019. Shiyi gained a lot from such exchanges because she believes in the widening of institutional and national perspectives, as this is helpful for students’ intellectual development.
Shiyi has a deep and professional understanding of the university system, having spent many years working in the field. She is currently a postgraduate teaching assistant in Film Studies at UCL, running academic workshop sessions for postgraduate students in the department and supporting them with their dissertations. From 2018 to 2019, she worked with UCL’s Student Support and Wellbeing team as a Global Ambassador; her major responsibilities involved supporting new international students. She was also an Event Director at an English Language Learning Student Association at the University of Toronto, where she reached out to international students and organised events to create a sense of community and belonging. After working in the financial industry for a few years, she went to the United Kingdom to pursue a Master’s degree in Behavioural Economics and Finance at the University of Exeter. She is currently a soon-to-be PhD student. Cindy has studied Economics throughout her life. She is extremely passionate about Economics as well as teaching Economics. She has a strong track record providing Economics tutorials, with all her students having their school grades elevated and obtaining grade B or above in public examinations.
